Legendary English footballer Paul Scholes has said that Arsenal can win the Premier League this season ahead of Manchester City if they can fulfill one major condition.
The ex-Manchester United midfielder recently appeared on The Overlap podcast, along with Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher.
During the episode, Scholes said, “I think last year, sometimes when you’re rivals, when you’re going for the league with another team as we went with Liverpool as times ago with City, times with Arsenal, you have to go to their ground and win in a big game.”

Explaining his point, Scholes added, “I remember watching the game at the end of last season…City were struggling a little bit. And Arsenal went there and played for a draw really. And they were delighted with the draw. Now, if you win that game, Arsenal win the league.”
The 49-year-old feels that an away victory against Manchester City could add significant momentum to Arsenal’s league charge.
“That momentum is massive. All of a sudden you’re killing Manchester City, you’re killing your main rival. They’re gone. It’s like a dagger to the back. Honestly, it absolutely destroys you,” Scholes said.
Carragher asked Scholes why he thought that Arsenal could pull off a Premier League triumph this season.
“You think they will win the league, is that just because you think it’s due, a different team, City can’t win it five times or is it about Arsenal actually having that quality to actually take over Man City?” Carragher asked.
The Manchester United icon agreed that he was being a little wishful as Manchester City were still the best team in the world. “I think it’s a little bit of wishful, more wishful thinking than anything because City are still the best team, don’t get me wrong,” he said.
Arsenal finished runners-up in the Premier League twice behind Manchester City.
