Barcelona star Cesc Fabregas is on his way to Old Trafford, with Sunday Express Sport reporting that the midfielder has agreed to join Manchester United after a secret meeting between his agent Darren Dein and United's chief executive Ed Woodward.
"Woodward came home early from his club's extensive Far East tour to try and facilitate the incoming Old Trafford record deal. That, we can disclose, included a meeting with the respected Dein, who also helped swing United's £24 million capture of Robin van Persie last summer," the report said.
The report also revealed that Fabregas is more keen on United than returning to Arsenal, who are also chasing the Spaniard. "Dein told Woodward that Fabregas wants to return to the Premier League and that United and not former club Arsenal, who have first option on the Spaniard, is his preferred destination," the report read.
United have so far made three bids for the 26-year-old midfielder, but the arrival of Gerard Martino at Nou Camp in place of cancer-stricken Tito Vilanova has halted United's advances. Martino doesn't want his popular player to leave.
But this latest development could mean that Fabregas would soon by submitting a transfer request to the new Barca manager.
