New Delhi: Seeking to retain its title, the Indian football team will undergo a 10-day camp in Bangalore ahead of the SAFF Championships to be held in Kathmandu in the first week of September.

The tournament is slated to be held from September 1 to 11 in the Himalayan Kingdom. The camp, to be held under the watchful eyes of national coach Wim Koevermans, will start on August 16. India is the most successful team in the tournament, having won the title six times since its inception in 1993.

India had thrashed Afghanistan 4-0 in the final at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium here to emerge comfortable winner in the ninth edition. Just two days prior to the start of SAFF camp, the Indian team will play an away international friendly against Tajikistan in Khujand on August 14.

Koevermans had last week announced a list of 30 probables for the Tajikistan match. As per the latest FIFA rankings, Tajikistan are placed at 106th in comparison to India's 146th.
