New Delhi: Defending La Liga champions Real Madrid have resumed training following the Christmas break with new acquisition, Lassana Diarra making his first appearance.
Real Madrid have re-convened their training session after the short festive holidays ahead of Sunday’s league clash with Villarreal.
The focus was set on the club’s two new arrivals, Lassana Diarra and Klaas-Jan Huntelaar.
The French defensive midfielder, signed from Portsmouth for around €20 million, was present for his very first Los Blancos training, which he began by chatting with another former player from the English Premier League, Arjen Robben.
Huntelaar, however, failed to make the session after the club confirmed that he had a flight delay in his trip back to Spain from Amsterdam where he bid farewell to his former club, Ajax.
Forward Gonzalo Higuain was also absent as he is suffering from tonsillitis. He has been granted permission to remain in Argentina while he recovers.
Under the watchful eye of coach, Juande Ramos and even sporting director, Predrag Mijatovic, the rest of the squad, which also included Dani Parejo, back from loan at Queens Park Rangers, completed the schedule without any problems.
