Manchester City may slide in Champions League rankings: report
City's woeful run this season has forced them to crumble down in the UEFA rankings table.

New Delhi: The 2012 EPL champions may be relegated to the third tier of the Champions League after their dismal campaign in 2013, 'The Telegraph' reported.

Manchester City are likely to be relegated to the third tier of Champions League seeds next season following their failure to qualify from the group stages of this year's competition, The Telegraph reported on Tuesday.

City's woeful run this season has forced them to crumble down in the UEFA rankings table. "Having finished bottom of a group containing Real Madrid, Borussia Dortmund and Ajax last December, the 2012 EPL champions are beginning to count the full cost of their winless campaign with the club, sliding to 22nd position in UEFA's coefficient ranking table," the report said.

After being unsuccessful in registering a place in the Europa League, City are now below Juventus and Paris Saint-Germain in the coefficient table. City trail Juventus and PSG by half and one and a half points respectively.

The Telegraph also reported that with Liverpool Schalke, Valencia and Inter Milan set to miss out on the Champions League, City's chances of making it to 'Pot Two' would have slightly brightened by Tottenham Hotspur, who are currently ranked 24th, which would deny Chelsea and Arsenal a place in the competition.
