London: Everton defender Phil Jagielka has signed a one-year extension to his contract that will keep him at the English football club until the summer of 2018.
Jagielka, who joined Everton from Sheffield United for four million pounds eight years ago, was named Everton's Player of the Season last season.
"It's always nice to feel wanted. Being rewarded with the extra year gives me that motivation to keep striving to get better and to keep going for as long as possible," Jagielka was quoted as saying by dailymail.co.uk.

The 32-year-old has represented England in 36 matches and is nearing 300 appearances for the club.
Jagielka took over the captaincy at the beginning of the 2014-15 season following Phil Neville retirement and has excelled for the Blues in recent seasons.
"It's great news that Phil is extending his relationship with the club," Everton manager Roberto Martinez said.
