Will Margot Robbie Play George Clooney's Mom In Ocean's Eleven Prequel?

Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling may not have tied the knot or started a family in Greta Gerwig’s Barbie Movie, but the two stars are reportedly stepping into parental roles in a different cinematic universe. George Clooney previously suggested Robbie and Gosling might play the parents of his character Danny Ocean and his younger sister, Debbie Ocean played by Sandra Bullock in Ocean’s Eleven prequel. In a Variety interview, Robbie and her LuckyChap partners, including husband Tom Ackerley and Josey McNamara, responded to Clooney’s comments. While Robbie appreciated Clooney’s praise, Ackerley clarified that their roles in the prequel are not confirmed. He even hinted that Ocean’s parents might not even feature in the movie.

Margot said, “Honestly, I’m so chuffed to hear that. That is extremely high praise. Wow, how exciting. I don’t know who his parents will ultimately be or not. I also read so much stuff that’s not true. ‘Margot Robbie’s doing that.’ And I’m like, ‘I’m 100% not and I’ve never even heard that.’ I know people do that just to whip up a buying frenzy. I mean, we should take it as a compliment.”

Tom Ackerley added, “That wasn’t a plot point that we’ve confirmed or denied. We’re still working on the script.”

As of now, the plot for the Ocean’s Eleven prequel remains under wraps, yet director Jay Roach recently gave out key details and confirmed that the film will be set in 1962’s Monte Carlo. In an interview with Associated Press, Roach revealed, “The Monaco Grand Prix is the backdrop and there’s a big famous shipping magnate who has a yacht. It’s not inexpensive. And I wanted it to be old-fashioned. Margot brought it to me as a kind of old-fashioned epic love story slash adventure disguised as a heist. It is still a heist movie, but it’s very much a love story.”

Amidst discussions about the Ocean’s prequel, curiosity regarding reunion of George Clooney and his Ocean’s Eleven co-stars for a fourth installment is sky high among fans. In a conversation with Uproxx, Clooney hinted about a promising script for another film. However, when asked about the title Ocean’s Fourteen, he hesitated to confirm.

Currently, no reports specify the commencement of filming for the Ocean’s Eleven prequel movie. On the other hand, detailed information regarding the cast, filming schedule or release dates have not been disclosed yet.
