A Guide to Walgreens Price Matching (& Other Ways to Save)
Price matching policies make it easy to save at a variety of major retailers. At shops like Walgreens, though, it’s not super clear what the store’s price match policy actually is. How you can make sure that you’re getting the very best deals before you start checking out? We’ve got the inside scoop. Keep scrolling to learn exactly how Walgreens’s price match policy works, as well as other handy ways to scoop up more savings on your next purchase.
Things You Should Know
  • Show an active, lower-priced online Walgreens listing to a cashier when you check out. They’ll confirm the price and match it to your in-store purchase.
  • You can only get one item price-matched per day at Walgreens. If the item is out of stock, the store won’t give you a rain check.
  • Misprinted listings, online-specific promotions, and outdated prices won’t get price-matched at Walgreens.

Does Walgreens have a price match policy?

No, Walgreens doesn’t match prices with local competitors. Unlike other retailers, Walgreens only price matches their in-store prices with an equivalent online listing on Walgreens.com. This program can be a handy way to save a few bucks, but coupons and Walgreens’s rewards program (myWalgreens) are much more straightforward ways to save money on your next shopping trip.

How to Price Match Online Items at Walgreens

Show a Walgreens employee the online listing of the item you’d like to price match. Before you check out, search all the items you’re planning to buy on the Walgreens website. Is the default online price cheaper than the default in-store price? If so, pull up the online listing on your phone and show it the Walgreens employee as you check out. They’ll confirm the price and subtract the difference from your purchase. The price match policy only applies to current listings on the website, so you’ll have to provide proof on your phone. Screenshots and printouts unfortunately won’t net you a discount, since there’s no way to prove if they’re current.

Terms & Conditions

Only one item can be price matched per day. Walgreens won’t let you do more than one price match in your total purchase, so make sure you’re redeeming the price match that gets you the most savings. If you notice multiple price discrepancies between in-store and online Walgreens products, check back the next day and see if there’s still a price difference. You can always redeem a new price match the next day!

The online item has to be identical to what you’re buying. Take a close look at the online listing and product description. Does your in-store item match the exact size, weight, color, model number, brand name, and quantity of the online listing? If there are any discrepancies, the item won’t be eligible for a price match.

Online promos, pricing typos, and old prices don’t qualify. Walgreens’s price match program only applies to current online listings that aren’t marked down or priced incorrectly. If the online listing features an on-sale item, an obvious pricing typo, or a price from a different day, a price match won’t be applied. Ask a Walgreens employee to check whether or not the online listing is a typo if you aren’t sure.

Specialty Walgreens services don’t qualify. Photo services, contact lenses, pharmacy services, and other health-related services can’t be price-matched with online listings.

No rain checks are allowed. Some price match programs allow “rain checks,” where a currently discounted price gets redeemed at a later date. Unfortunately, Walgreens doesn’t allow rain checks with their price match program—you can only redeem a price match on the day of the price difference.
