This wikiHow teaches you how to download older versions of macOS. If you currently have macOS and want to check if there is an update available, you can easily go to "App Store" in the Apple menu, then check "Updates", or read How to Check for and Install Updates on a Mac Computer for more information.
Go to https://apple.com in a web browser. You can also open the App Store on your computer.
Search for "Mountain Lion," "Lion," or "Snow Leopard." The Apple store only has these operating system versions for sale. You might be able to find older OS versions for sale on Amazon or eBay.
Click Add to Bag. If you're using the Apple Store, you'll be prompted to add the item to your bag before you make your purchase.
Finalize your purchase and follow the prompts to download the OS. Once you buy the operating system, you should be prompted to download it. If you can't find the prompt, go to Purchases > Purchased. The downloaded file can be run from your desktop or loaded onto a USB drive and used on another computer.
