'Actor-politician Captain Vijayakanth's Health Deteriorates': Hospital

Veteran Tamil actor Captain Vijayakanth’s has not been keeping well lately. The actor was admitted to a private hospital in Chennai on November 18. His health has somewhat declined during the past 24 hours, according to a medical bulletin released by Miot Hospital on Wednesday.

The most recent news from the hospital states that the actor is receiving medical attention and is unstable. Actor-turned-politician Vijayakanth is receiving respiratory assistance after his health somewhat declined during the past 24 hours. A group of medical professionals is keeping an eye on the 71-year-old leader of Desiya Murpokku Dravida Kazhagam (DMDK). The officials said that stated that Vijayakanth might spend up to 14 days in the hospital.

A week ago, the hospital released a bulletin stating that Vijayakanth was responding positively to his treatment for fever sickness, was stable, and was able to execute all of his bodily functions on his own. It was also mentioned that he would be prepared to return home and carry on with his regular activities following a few days of observation. On social media, celebrities from the film industry and political figures wished Vijayakanth a swift recovery after learning about his present condition.

Captain Vijayakanth, as he was affectionately called, was well-known for his intense speech and action scenes in his films. In 2006, he launched his own political party and ran for office in the Assembly. In the 2011 Tamil Nadu Assembly elections, he reversed the trend by forming an alliance with the AIADMK. His party became the main opposition in the state after securing 29 seats and placing DMK in a distant third. Vijayakanth’s party collapsed and his health deteriorated following his party’s consecutive defeats in the next elections, which made him withdraw from public appearances.

Vijayakanth received the moniker Captain after the 1991 film Captain Prabhakaran, which was his 100th film.
