Sunrisers Hyderabad, who have won the Indian Premier League (IPL) once, opted to make changes to their squad yet again ahead of the IPL 2024 auction.
SRH has already made some big changes. The Hyderabad-based franchise named New Zealand legend Daniel Vettori as their new head coach after sacking Brian Lara last season. Aiden Markram was already appointed their new captain after releasing Kane Williamson.
But, when it came to trades, SRH tried to play coy and hold onto majority of their core, as they ended up releasing a total of just 6 players.
Markram was retained along with some of the other players who for their core – like Heinrich Klaasen, Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Rahul Tripathi, with some of the other big names marking their exit after their poor last season.
When it came to trades, SRH made a deal with Royal Challengers Bangalore, trading Mayank Dagar for Shahbaz Ahmed.
The biggest of shocks came with the release of swashbuckling batter Harry Brook. Brook who has been a surefire batter for both England and SRH in flashes last season now departs the side along with England teammate and spinner Adil Rashid.
But, SRH will be banking on the form of players such as Klaasen and Jansen, who have risen to prominence this past year, especially in the World Cup, to compete for the title and lead them to promised land yet again.
