The film is currently aiming to break the record of Jailer’s Rs 600 crore records but has a long road ahead.

Lokesh Kanagaraj’s highly anticipated film of the year, Leo, featuring the charismatic Thalapathy Vijay, made its silver screen debut worldwide on October 19. The film, surrounded by controversies and lofty expectations, has managed to surpass all obstacles, earning rave reviews from both critics and audiences alike. As it continues to break box office records and set new milestones, Leo now stands as Vijay’s third film to swiftly breach the 300 crore club threshold within its first week. It aims to surpass the monumental record of Jailer, which boasts an impressive 600 crore benchmark, although a challenging journey lies ahead.

Amidst the box office triumph, Leo’s streaming date has been officially confirmed. According to Deccan Chronicle, the digital rights for the film have been acquired by the OTT giant, Netflix India, in a substantial deal. The film is expected to make its digital debut after its theatrical run, maintaining the buzz around it. The tentative schedule for Leo’s digital streaming premiere is set for November 21, pending an official announcement from the streaming giant.

Turning to the film’s box office performance, despite the controversies that surrounded it since the release of its trailer, Leo continues to dominate at the box office. On its eighth day in theatres, it collected an impressive Rs 10.25 crore, as reported by the entertainment tracker Sacnilk. This outstanding figure brings the film’s net domestic collection to a staggering Rs 265.6 crore.

The film’s Tamil occupancy rate is currently at 25.92%, with evening shows witnessing increased footfall. Leo boasts nearly 900 screenings in Chennai, with a citywide occupancy rate of around 33%. Globally, Leo has amassed a gross collection of Rs 464.3 crore, with a remarkable first-week collection worldwide, totalling Rs 461 crore.

In addition to Thalapathy Vijay, Leo features a star-studded ensemble cast, including Sanjay Dutt, Trisha Krishnan, Arjun, Gautham Vasudev Menon, Mysskin, and Priya Anand.
