Naga Chaitanya is currently reeling under the poor performance of his recent films like Custody, Laal Singh Chaddha and others. And now, he is gearing up for his upcoming Telugu digital debut, titled Dhootha which will stream on Amazon Prime Video.
According to reports, the web series will premiere on December 1. It stars an ensemble cast of Prachi Desai, Priya Bhavani Shankar, Parvathy Thiruvothu and others. Northstar Entertainment has backed this project which is touted to be a supernatural horror thriller.
Dhootha was scheduled to be released in 2022 on Prime Video but according to some unclaimed reports, it was put on hold. In April, the streaming giant unveiled the first look of the Naga Chaitanya’s OTT debut. It tweeted, “Dhootha On Prime: In this supernatural horror, possessed inanimate objects to wreak havoc on the lives of people who commit deadly sins.”

During the first look launch event, Chaitanya shared that as actors, they always crave their work to get maximum exposure. According to him, on a platform like Prime Video, they get that exposure. “It’s not pan-India but it’s pan-world,” he added. The Custody actor also mentioned that he is a guy who can’t sit through even five minutes of horror. “When Vikram told me it is a supernatural horror thriller, I was thinking to myself ‘I exactly know what that feeling is so let me translate that into Sagar in Dhootha’,” Chaitanya shared.
Chaitanya also remains unaffected by the lean phase in his acting career. In a chat with Bollywoodlife, Chay, as he is known by fans, said that flops are disappointing. He, however, treats this low phase as a temporary phenomenon, the actor added. Chaitanya further said that he is always eager to give good movies to fans. He remarked that good cinema is the best reward for unconditional fans. According to him, “Highs and lows are very normal in this career. That time will pass soon and we will be back for sure.”
Besides Dhootha, Chaitanya is looking forward to playing the lead role in an untitled project, directed by Shiva Nirvana. Mythri Movie Makers have produced this project.
