T'gana CM Revanth Reddy Launches Two Schemes as Part of Six Poll 'Guarantees' of Congress
He launched Mahalakshmi scheme aiming to provide free travel facility to females in the state owned Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TSRTC) buses

Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy on Saturday assured people to implement six poll promises guaranteed by his government.

“Telangana people has to celebrate today as the process of formation of Telangana state has initiated on December 9, 2009. Sonia Amma (Congress parliamentary party chairperson Sonia Gandhi) is true replica to Telangana Talli. Sonia Amma has given us an opportunity to proudly say that the Telangana is ours. Sonia Amma has given six guarantees for the sake of Telangana people. Today, the state government has taken the responsibility of fulfilling two guarantees out of the six,” he said while addressing a gathering.

He launched Mahalakshmi scheme aiming to provide free travel facility to females in the state owned Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TSRTC) buses.

“From today onwards women can travel from anywhere to wherever they want in the TSRTC buses without paying any charges across the state” he said. CM Reddy also enhanced the limit of Arogya Sree to Rs.10 lakh.

The chief minister also handed over a cheque worth Rs. 2 crore to boxer Nikhat Zareen on behalf of the state government. Nikhat Zareen, who hails from Nizamabad in Telangana, said she would like to work hard and get a good name for the state.

Along with Reddy, Akbaruddin Owaisi, pro-tem speaker to the state assembly and, Shanti Kumari, Chief Secretary to the state government, Sajjanar, managing drirector of TSRTC were also present.

Under the Rajiv Arogyasri health scheme, the poor would get financial coverage of Rs 10 lakh. Under the ‘Mahalakshmi’ scheme, women can travel free of cost in the state-run Road Transport Corporation (RTC) buses.

Mahalakshmi Scheme

Females and transgender community from Telangana irrespective of their age can travel free of cost in the TSRTC buses such as city ordinary, metro, express, and Palle Velugu across the state.

The beneficiary has to show state issued identity card or the TSRTC issued Mahlakshmi card to avail the facility.

It is mandatory to show the identity card at the time of boarding, while the conductor will issue free zero ticket to them. The zero ticket will not consist of fare and destination of the journey.

The beneficiary has to pay an extra fare if she wants to travel beyond the state borders. Women from Telangana can avail this facility in a total of 7,929 TSRTC buses.

Rajiv Arogyasri

The coverage of Rajiv Arogyasri scheme, free annual medical and health service has enhanced to Rs.10 lakh from today (December 9). It is mandatory to have card whenever beneficiary visit hospital.

The beneficiary can avail the treatment and also can undergo surgery free of cost covered under the scheme. The expense to the surgery will be mentioned in the reports related to the Arogyasri card.

For instance, if the expense for the treatment is recorded as Rs.3 lakh, the beneficiary of the scheme can avail further treatment up to Rs.7 lakh free of cost.
