It’s not often that you get to hear about a lyricist being taken on a tour of the city for the person to gain a better understanding of it and write a song. So, when such an incident happens, it naturally evokes interest and garners attention.Yes, lyricist Thamarai, who has penned all the songs for the film Muppozhudum Un Karpanaigal, recently disclosed that the film’s makers took her on a tour of the city to help her write a song on gifts that lovers prefer to present to their sweethearts. Said the lyricist, “There is this song in the film which revolves around the theme of the gift that lovers want to present to their sweethearts. It lists a number of items which can be given as gifts. After I wrote it, I was told that whatever I had listed as gifts had all gone out of fashion and that lovers these days were preferring a completely different set of items to present as gifts to their sweethearts. To help me gain an idea of the items being gifted now, the film’s makers took me to all the malls in the city and the gift shops there.”“So, to write this song, I had to go on a little tour and a small picnic,” she smiled.
