THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The State Government has reached an accord with self-financing dental college managements on Wednesday on quota and fees. The accord was reached following talks between the representatives of the college managements and Chief Minister Oommen Chandy. This was announced by Health Minister Adoor Prakash at a press conference here on Wednesday. As per the accord, the fees for government quota seats will be Rs 1.10 lakh, for BPL candidates Rs 23,000, for SEBC seats Rs 44,000 and management quota seats Rs 3.30 lakh. The fees for NRI quota seats will be Rs 4 lakh. The admissions to all seats will be based on the ranklist published by the Commissioner for Entrance Examinations (CEE). The admission process to government quota seats will be held along with the fourth round of allotment scheduled for September 12. The State Government will allow the managements to conduct a separate entrance examination for admissions to management quota seats, if they did not get sufficient candidates for these seats before September 25. The test will be held on September 23. This was because the deadline for completing admissions to dental colleges is on September 30. Though the managements had earlier planned an entrance test, it did not have the approval of the admission supervisory committee under Justice P A Mohammed. Following this, they dropped the plan to conduct the entrance test.
