HYDERABAD: The vehicle of the assistant commissioner of police (ACP), who was on governor’s bandobust duty, was challaned by the traffic cops near Himayathnagar on Tuesday morning for travelling in a wrong direction.Abids ACP ITVS Suryanarayana who was on governor ESL Narasimhan’s bandobust duty, was proceeding to Lord Venkateswara temple at Himayathnagar from Narayanguda but his vehicle was stuck in a traffic jam.In order to reach the venue fast, his driver took the vehicle onto the right side at LN Reddy Nagar crossroads and drove the vehicle in the wrong direction for some distance when the vehicle was intercepted by the traffic police there.Suryanarayana, however, got down from the vehicle and walked to the temple.A challan was issued against Suryanarayana’s vehicle by the traffic ACP Balakrishna to the vehicle driver and the penal amount was paid.It may be mentioned that the traffic police launched a special drive against erring police vehicles recently.A challan was also issued to additional commissioner of police (traffic) C V Anand’s vehicle recently for wrong parking at Punjagutta.
