The Food Safety Department busted a food adulteration operation in Sri Ganganagar, Rajasthan on Thursday. The adulterators, working inside a printing press, were manufacturing adulterated desi ghee.

The factory was exposed after a raid conducted by the Food Safety Department, which seized over 400 litres of vegetable oil and various packaging materials. The adulterated desi ghee was meant to be distributed across Rajasthan, Punjab, and Haryana.

According to reports, the Food Safety Department conducted this operation in the Reico Industrial Area on Thursday night. Upon receiving a tip-off, the department raided the factory, but the perpetrators had already fled.

The team seized over 400 litres of vegetable oil and other materials used for manufacturing adulterated desi ghee. Additionally, various brands of packaging materials used for packing the adulterated desi ghee were also found.

The initial investigation has revealed that the operation was being carried out under the guise of operating a rented printing press.

The Food Safety Department is currently conducting a thorough investigation into the matter. A campaign by the department targeting adulterated food items has been ongoing in Rajasthan for some time.

Recently, a significant amount of adulterated and contaminated sweets was seized in Jaipur. Prior to this, food safety teams had conducted raids on several hotels and restaurants as part of their crackdown on food adulteration.
