THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: On Thursday, the Thiruvananthapuram chapter of the Confederation of Indian Industries (CII) was organising a conference on ways to make Thiruvananthapuram a ‘Global city of innovation.’ Ironically, on the same day, one of the largest IT hubs in the country, Technopark, was sweating without drinking water and AC. In a shocking turn of events, the centralised AC of Tejaswini building got damaged and Ariva Med Data Infotech Pvt Ltd functioning there suffered a major loss in the rush of water from the AC duct. The incident, which occurred on Wednesday midnight, has come as a jolt to Technopark authorities and firms, who have been reeling under severe water shortage for more than four days. For techies, scarcity of water, coupled with non-availability of AC, is making work as well as life hell. “No water, no AC and they call it emerging Kerala. Where are we heading to?,” asked a senior official of Technopark. “There is no drinking water for the past four days. Now, AC of the entire Tejaswini building has gone kaput,” he said. Ariva Med, located at L-I of the Tejaswini building, reportedly suffered a huge loss as some of the servers and computers were damaged in the flood of water. The company’s official phone number too is unavailable for contact. Companies in Tejaswini building are busy making temporary arrangements for fans and coolers. However, lack of enough windows is causing much hardship to techies this summer. The food court operating in Tejaswini building has been closed owing to water shortage. Tejaswini has two basements for parking, yet another basement, a lower ground and seven floors.
