Kolkata: Two hundred companies of central security forces have been deployed in West Bengal ahead of the upcoming Assembly polls in the state. Apart from identifying vulnerable areas which required special attention, the units were engaged in area domination and law and order duties.
"200 companies of security forces have arrived in the state as part of an area domination and confidence building measure. Every district has adequate central forces," Additional Chief Electoral Officer Dibyendu Sarkar said.
"The presence of the Election Commission is not limited to only the voting days, but we will make our presence felt through the forces till the election process is completed," Sarkar said. He denied that the EC had received any written complaint about violation of the model code of conduct from any political party so far.
Deputy Election Commissioner Sandeep Saxena will hold a video conference with the Additional Director General of Police, commissioners of police, district superintendents of police and district election officers tomorrow.
