New Delhi: India is closely monitoring developments in Thailand in the wake of a military coup in which army wrested power from Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra, a senior official said.

"The situation is being monitored closely and we are in touch with our Embassy in Bangkok," an MEA official said on Wednesday.

The official also denied reports in a section of media that some Indians had been affected due to the coup.

"All Inidans are safe there," the official said.

Meanwhile, Indian Ambassador to Thailand Vivek Katju told CNN-IBN that there are no evacuation plans as of now and the situation is under control.

Indian Airlines also operated a service to Bangkok from Kolkata in spite of the political crisis in Thailand.

Airlines officials said that no decision has been taken regarding the cancellation of services to Thailand.

An Indian Airlines flight with 58 passengers onboard on Wednesday flew to Bangkok, officials said.
