The Indo Cine Appreciation Foundation in association with the Royal Thai Consulate General, Chennai, is organising a Thai film festival till August 22. On August 21, catch the film Blissfully Your directed by Apichatpong Weera sethakul.
A story on the nation-wide crackdown on illegal Burmese immigrants in Thailand, the film traces how the situation had deeply-affected the Burmese community in the country, many of whom crossed the border to find a better life by seeking employment in the Thai labour market. On August 22, enjoy Samchuk directed by Tanit Jitnukul. The film is about seven teenagers in a neighbourhood called Sam Chuk, whose lives are entangled with troubles and devastated because of the use of drugs.
Their local teacher Pinij is concerned and how his intervention changes the lives of those boys forms the rest of the plot. Also, watch Muay Thai Fighter with direction by Kongkiat Khomsiri.
Growing up in Chaiya, three boys, Piak, Pao and Samor, are followers of Pao’s brother, Krang (Prawit Kittichanthira), a legendary muay Thai fighter who is taught by Pao’s father, Tew (Samart Payakaroon). After an accident partially cripples Samor, Piak and Pao train as boxers under Tew, but the boxing school is broken up when Tew and Krang are recruited for a gym in Bangkok. As the rest of the film unfolds, Piak and Pao eventually go to Bangkok, bringing along Samor and Sripai, a nurse, who is engaged to Piak, but whom Pao secretly loves. For details, call 98401 51956.
