BANGALORE: Schneider Electric India’s Bangalore organises ‘Green Championship’, under the Conserve My Planet programme, a competition to test children’s knowledge on energy management and innovative energy conservation in the city. The initiative aims to build responsible communities which are sensitive towards conserving energy and the environment. It also intends to educate the younger generation on energy crisis by making them responsible and sensitive towards efficient energy management. The ‘Conserve My Planet’ is an initiative aimed at children between 10-13 years of age. The programme ties up with schools to educate students to do their best towards contributing in building an energy efficient planet.The students who pass through the written tests, group discussions and personal interviews are inducted to the programme as green ambassadors of earth, The green ambassadors are educated and trained on the practices in energy conservation with interactive sessions, multimedia presentations, hands-on projects and field trips. Speaking about the initiative, programme director of Conserve My Planet programme , Schneider Electric India, Dr Kamala T N, said, “To sustain humanity in our planet, we need to build responsible communities that realise the importance of conserving energy and environment. There is no better way to start than by inculcating these values in children. Conserve my Planet initiative helps children to realise the impact of global warming and supports them to be a responsible citizen.”
