Angry Dhar villagers lynch leopard
It is illegal to kill leopards in India, endangered specie, often hunted for fur.

Dhar: Villagers beat a leopard to death in Dhar after the animal attacked some villagers.

The leopard entered a village near Dhar on Friday and attacked six villagers. The angry villagers cornered the leopard and lynched it to death using stones, swords and sticks.

The police was immediately informed of the incident. In recent years, incidents of wild animals straying into urban areas have increased owing to loss of habitat and increased human encroachment into forest areas.

In India, leopards are found all over the country. The animal often enters human habitat in search of food.

Experts opine that increasing human interference such as development, encroachment and destruction of natural habitat as well as poaching pose a serious threat to leopards, the nature's lovely spotted felines.
