PARADIP: The anti-Posco activists dug up the newly laid coastal road leading to the proposed Posco plant site here on Tuesday, protesting the plant’s construction work in Dhinkia panchayat. The previous day had witnessed scuffle between the anti-Posco activists and workers of the construction agency. As many as 15 persons were injured from both the sides. The activists led by Posco Pratirodh Sangram Samiti president Abhay Sahu allegedly hurled bombs at the labourers.Even as the construction company discontinued work on Tuesday, the villagers have erected a gate at the proposed construction site to prevent entry of workers and officials of Posco, Police and the district. Later, the protestors also dug up the road using machine of the construction agency.A revenue officer said construction of the road is yet to begin and the workers had only levelled the road with sand. Sources, however, said a 50-foot stretch road was laid on Monday, which the villagers have dug up.“We will stall any attempt to resume construction work on the proposed project,” said Sahu.DSP S Debdatta Singh said a case has been registered with Kujang police against anti-Posco activists for hurling bombs at the workers. We are yet to receive complaint about damage done to the road, he added.
