Hyderabad: AICC state affairs in-charge Ghulam Nabi Azad is understood to have asked roads and buildings minister Dharmana Prasada Rao, whose resignation is pending with the chief minister, to resume duties immediately. Kiran Kumar Reddy reportedly wants to act on the resignation only after taking legal advice and as the entire exercise is expected to take at least four to six months, the AICC general secretary is believed to have asked Dharmana to resume work in the cabinet. The directive came when the minister, who has not heeded the CM’s request to return, called on Azad at the Lake View Guest House here on Sunday afternoon.
Azad had come to Hyderabad to attend the wedding of former minister Mohammed Ali Shabber’s daughter Parveen in Secunderabad. Sources said that soon after the meeting, Dharmana submitted a memorandum to Azad over the charges levelled against him in CBI’s fourth chargesheet in the illegal assets case against YS Jagan Mohan Reddy. The memorandum was reportedly the same which was submitted to the chief minister earlier and in which he claims he was innocent.
Meanwhile, Azad also spoke on other issues. On the Telangana front, he is believed to have rehashed the line that the high command was doing a vigorous exercise to find a solution to the contentious issue. Contrary to the earlier visits of Azad, Sunday’s visit evoked little response from the state Congress senior leaders and ministers. Rajya Sabha members KVP Ramachandra Rao and V Hanumantha Rao were among the few leaders who met Azad. Of all the ministers in the cabinet, only PCC chief Botcha Satyanarayana and Kondru Murali were seen with Azad.
