Asiatic Lion population affected as heavy rainfall lashes Gir sanctuary

Gir(Gujarat): Heavy rains have caused a havoc in Gujarat with the death toll rising to 41.

Nature's fury hasn't even spared animals with lions of the Gir Sanctuary bearing the brunt of incessant rain.

The dead body of an 8 year old lioness was found on Thursday. About 50 lions have also been evacuated. The lions were found near the river bank of the Shetrunji river.

Gir is the sole home of the Asiatic lion.
