BANGALORE: Following the recent fire mishaps at Cubbon Park, the Horticulture department will patrol on the premises to prevent the fire, which is allegedly being set by some miscreants. Tweleve officials will be divided into three groups of four members, to patrol Cubbon Park in the evenings. Recently, a fire broke out in Cubbon Park, in which fully grown bamboo trees were destroyed. Police had suspected the role of miscreants who enter the park after sunset. Officials of Horticulture Department too had suspected that fire might have triggered after a pile of garbage was set on fire by miscreants. “It was very sad to cut down the trees which were destroyed in fire mishap. Nearly 50 fully grown trees were damaged in the mishap. Following this, officials have been appointed for patrol. If couples are found in the park after sunset, they have been directed to warn them. Lighting of cigarettes in the park will also be prevented,” said Muthu Madaiah, an Assistant Horticulture Trainer. He added that activities of miscreants were in control, but after the violence incident at City Civil Court, many police personnel have been deputed on court premises. The miscreants are taking advantage of the situation. Earlier, the Fire and Emergency Services personnel had suspected that BBMP pourakarmikas might have set fire on dry leaves and other garbage instead of disposing them.
