Karachi: Former Pakistan prime minister Benazir Bhutto filed her papers from two more parliamentary constituencies in her hometown for the January 8 general election on Monday, the last day for filing nominations.

The PPP chairperson, who had yesterday filed nomination papers for a seat reserved for women in Karachi, on Monday submitted her papers from two seats in southern Sindh town of Larkana, a stroghold of her Pakistan People's Party. Today is the last day for submitting nomination papers for the upcoming polls to the national and provincial assemblies.

The PPP has announced its final list of candidates but Bhutto has left the option of a boycott open. She said a decision would be taken after consultations with other parties, including the PML-N of former prime minister Nawaz Sharif who returned to Pakistan yesterday from seven years in exile.

Bhutto herself returned after eight years in self-exile on October 18 after President Pervez Musharraf granted her amnesty in graft cases by issuing a controversial ordinance.

Sharif and his brother Shahbaz Sharif are expected to file nominations in Lahore before the deadline ends.
