Mulayam claimed this was a Congress tactic to delay the Assembly elections in Uttar Pradesh.

New Delhi: In an interesting twist to the tussle over Uttar Pradesh, Chief Minister Mulayam Singh on Tuesday said there is a corporate conspiracy to dislodge his government and claimed that the country's biggest industrialist was trying to throw him out.

"The biggest industrialist of the country is trying to dislodge my government," Mulayam said without naming anyone specifically.

He blamed corporate warfare for the conspiracy saying that this was a Congress tactic to delay the Assembly elections in the state.

Mulayam was speaking to journalists in Lucknow after inaugurating the Lohia Path.

Earlier while addressing a rally, he said, "There is a conspiracy to dislodge my government in Uttar Pradesh and also to impose President's rule. The Governor is following the directions of the Central Government," he claimed.

Mulayam slammed the Centre for its attempt to dismiss his government, saying the move is not only "dictatorial, but also undemocratic". He said he will fight against it to save the system from peril.

"I am fighting against it since the system is in peril. The move to dislodge my government is against the very spirit of the Constitution. It is a must to save democracy," he told a gathering in Vrindavan during a felicitation programme.

"I have done nothing immoral. After all, where am I wrong? The Apex Court has not made any adverse comment against my government. Why is an attempt being made to dismiss my government?" he asked.

Meanwhile, on a day when the Samajwadi Party leaders met the President and sought the recall of Uttar Pradesh Governor T V Rajeshwar saying he was acting with 'malafide and motivated' political intentions to dismiss the Mulayam Singh Yadav government, the Prime Minister met the Left leaders, apparently to iron out the differences over the UP situation.

CPI-M leader Prakash Karat, however, is believed to have reiterated his party's opposition to President's Rule in the state.

The Congress has, meanwhile, kept up its push to push Mulayam Singh out. The party is busy gathering support to dismiss the Samajwadi Party Government in Uttar Pradesh. Pranab Mukherjee met Congress President Sonia Gandhi ahead of a core group meeting, which has been called to discuss the situation.

Sharad Pawar's NCP has also said they will support the Congress' decision in the matter. The Mulayam Singh government is facing a crucial floor test on February 26.

Close on the heels of the Samajwadi Party leaders meeting President APJ Abdul Kalam, former Prime Minister VP Singh led a Jana Morcha delegation to Dr Kalam demanding immediate dismissal of the Mulayam Singh government in the state.

"We submitted to the President that to put a stop to the politics of defections, and to honour the spirit of the Supreme Court verdict in the BSP MLAs case, invocation of Article 356 had become necessary," Singh told reporters in the Rashtrapati Bhawan premises after meeting the President.

"The President listened to our arguments and assured that he would give due consideration to the points raised by us," Singh said.
