The Bombe Mane exhibition in Nazarbad in Mysuru, Karnataka has a longstanding tradition of captivating visitors every year with its impressive display of unique and special dolls. As the festive season of Dasara draws near, this year’s exhibit has been taken to new heights with an even more diverse and elaborate collection of dolls. The exhibition and sale of these exquisite dolls have already commenced, with Ramsons Pratishthan’s Bombe Mane transforming its three-story building into a magical world of dolls.
Every year, Bombe Mane becomes a hub of creativity, featuring dolls crafted from a wide variety of materials such as clay, paper, wood, cloth, glass and porcelain. These dolls are not only visually stunning but also serve as a testament to the rich cultural heritage and artistic craftsmanship that India is known for. Visitors are greeted with an array of colourful and intricately designed dolls that reflect the traditions and folklore of different regions of India.
This year, a particularly noteworthy aspect of the exhibit is the celebration of the 100th anniversary of the Mysuru Karaga. This event is commemorated through a special display featuring miniature dolls representing the Karaga and the 12 individuals who traditionally carry it during the procession. These finely detailed dolls capture the essence of this significant cultural event, drawing the attention and admiration of all who visit. Another highlight of this year’s collection is the black-coloured Ram Lalla doll from Ayodhya, which stands out for its unique craftsmanship and cultural significance.
In addition to these featured exhibits, Bombe Mane also presents dolls and images that portray various aspects of Indian mythology and tradition. The exhibit includes scenes depicting the Tulsi Vivah, a sacred marriage ritual involving the Tulsi plant, as well as the worship of Goddess Tulsi.
The special feature this year is the dolls of saints who preserved and promoted Sanatana Dharma, showcased in the “Own Empire” section. Over 10,000 dolls, including those from 12 different states of India, are available at Bombe Mane. Each doll is captivating and appeals to all age groups, with fixed prices. The exhibition is open from 10 AM to 7 PM.
