BANGALORE: Through radio spots and jingles, Beyond Carlton, a people’s initiative for fire safety, will start a campaign to spread awareness about the new notification on fire safety for high rise buildings.Coming forward to support the initiative are cricketer Anil Kumble, Former Lokayukta Santosh Hegde and actor Ramesh Aravind. Nitin Dubey, a member of Beyond Carlton said, “We have recorded the radio spots of all three of them and this will be aired on private FM channels in a phased manner soon. With Ramesh Aravind, we have recorded Kannada spots and we are looking for vernacular radio channels to broadcast them. We are also looking forward to approach more celebrities.”Supporting the cause, Anil Kumble said, “I am happy to see Beyond Carlton take up the often neglected issue of fire safety, and I am glad to be a part of their campaign. Let us keep in mind that this group has people who underwent grave personal tragedy during the Carlton Towers fire, so their selfless commitment to the cause of fire safety is highly admirable.”“I urge the citizens of Bangalore to support the group in their crusade. The spate of fires in the city over the past few days is a grim reminder of how real is the risk of fire accidents,” added Aravind.
