New Delhi: Chairman of National Commission for Schedule Caste and former Union minister Buta Singh will be questioned by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on or before the August 24 in connection to the Rs 1 crore bribery scam involving his son.
CBI sources have told CNN-IBN that the CBI has sent a letter to Buta Singh asking him to show up for questioning on or before that date.
The former Union minister who was also the governor of Bihar will be questioned as a witness in connection with his son Sarbjot Singh's arrest in the bribery case.
"Buta Singh will be questioned as a witness and not as a co-accused or over his alleged involvement in the bribery case of Rs one crore," CBI Joint Director Rishiraj Singh had said on Tuesday.
Sarobjit was arrested on July 31 by the CBI for allegedly demanding a bribe of Rs 1 crore from a Nashik-based contractor Ramrao Patil to close a case against him.
The case is pending with the Schedule Caste Commission.
Patil is an accused in a case of allegedly cheating 100 Dalit workers in Nashik.
