TUMKUR: Forest Minister CH Vijayashankar said that Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa and Siddaganga seer Sri Shivakumara Swamiji will inaugurate 'Maguvigondu Mara, Shalegondu Vana,' (a tree for a kid, a garden for a school), the Forest Department's afforestation programme, at Siddaganga mutt on Saturday.
After a preliminary meeting held at the deputy commissioner's office on Monday, Vijayashankar told reporters that children will plant saplings of 104 various species in honour of the 104-year-old seer.The minister announced that all the schools in the state would be provided with the saplings and facilities to maintain the trees. 'Tree parks' will be established in every district, on the lines of Cubbon Park in Bangalore and land for this programme has been identified, he said. He added that the park in Tumkur would come up at AkkaTangi lake.
