CHENNAI: The International Conference on Inclusive Growth through Mobile Applications will be held at the M S Swaminathan Research Foundation, Chennai from September 15 till 17. The conference will be organised by the International Institute for Information Design (IIID), the Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay (IITB) and the M S Swaminathan Research Foundation. The conference will address the information design challenges for bringing relevant content via a mobile phone to people who would otherwise have no access to such information. It will also facilitate exchange and interaction and thus, promote inclusive growth. It will investigate what formats of communication are appropriate and understandable in order to empower people and support socio-economic development.In view of bringing together technological possibilities, content provision and the transformative power of information design, this conference is expected to be a milestone for the development of innovative and effective applications for mobile phones, according to the organisers. On the first day, the conference will try to connect the dots between a wide range of issues related to mobile development and set the scene of the emerging mobile landscape. On day two, healthcare, rural prosperity and education issues will be addressed.
