THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The CPM state committee meeting to be held on Wednesday will announce the party state secretariat and the candidate for Neyyattinkara by-election.As the party is mulling to replace the ageing members in the secretariat, new faces will get the nod. According to party sources, G Sudhakaran and Elamaram Kareem stand a good chance to be inducted into the secretariat. Former minister M Vijayakumar is also a likely candidate for induction in the state secretariat. In case of giving representation to women, central committee members P K Sreemathi and M C Josephine may be considered. The state committee will consider Paloli Mohammadkutty’s request to be relieved from the secretariat in view of his old age and ill-health. P K Gurudasan who has also been ailing for some time may also be relieved. As both these leaders are members of the central committee, they can continue to attend the secretariat. The elevation of M A Baby as politburo member will leave one vacancy in the 15-member secretariat.T Sivadasa Menon, who is in charge of the AKG Centre, is also unlikely to get another chance. However, in his case the fact that he is not a member of the central committee will make the state committee to consider him differently. V S Achuthanandan who is retained in the central committee is unlikely to be replaced in the secretariat. Kodiyeri Balakrishnan, Pinarayi Vijayan, V V Dakshinamurthy, Ananthalavattom Anandan, E P Jayarajan, Thomas Isaac, M V Govindan, Vaikom Viswan, A K Balan and P Karunakaran will be retained. Even after the induction of new faces, the central committee and politburo members can continue to attend the secretariat meeting.
