It is for the government authority to consider the plea for telecasting Tamil version of the feature film on Dr BR Ambedkar in the Doordarshan channel, the first bench of the Madras High Court has said.
When a public interest writ petition from advocate S Sathia Chandran came up before the bench comprising Chief Justice MY Eqbal and Justice TS Sivagnanam, the bench said that this court could not issue any mandamus to that effect. However, the petitioner might pursue his representation before the government Information & Tourism secretary, who in turn should look into the matter and do the needfull in accordance with the law within a reasonable time, the bench added.
