Delhi Police summons another JNU student for allegedly organising pro-Afzal Guru event

New Delhi: Delhi Police on Saturday summoned another Jawaharlal Nehru University student Ashutosh for allegedly organising a pro-Afzal Guru event in the University.

According to reports, Ashutosh was also one of the organisers of the event. "This is a pre-planned strategy. There is a strong backing for Delhi Police from someone in the top. This shows breakdown of law and order," Ashutosh said.

On Friday, around 20-25 people, who were present at the event, have been identified after the joint interrogation of JNUSU president Kanhaiya Kumar, Umar Khalid and Anirban Bhattacharya.

However, they are yet to get the details of who were the students, teachers and outsiders among them. Other details like the department and whether they stayed in the hostel are also awaited.

The investigators are awaiting the report of JNU high level committee on the matter which will be the deciding factor whether the varsity's Vice-Chancellor, who had withdrawn permission for the February 9 event, or other members of the committee will be listed as witnesses in the case.
