BANGALORE: Home and Transport Minister R Ashok inaugurated development works in Banashankari temple ward. The minister visited three areas- Bhavani Nagar, Teacher’s Colony and Yarab Nagar, where development works amounting to `1 is scheduled to begin soon.Speaking on the occasion, Ashok said: “I will instruct the concerned authorities to mark all the pothole-laden roads, and also have Namma Metro debris cleared off the roads for pedestrians.” Banashankari temple ward has been troubled by various shortages in terms of civic amenities. Garbage, water shortage, poorly asphalted roads are some of the problems here. Express spoke to a few residents, who seemed both optimistic and skeptical about the new initiative. “With his visit, I am hopeful that the ward will have a much needed facelift,” said Shamachari, a resident of Teacher’s Colony. Other residents said that they hope it was not a one-day affair. “This is the first time I am seeing streets being cleaned. I hope this will be an everyday affair,” said Kumar, a resident of Yarab Nagar. Teacher’s Colony and Yarab Nagar is set to have renewed storm water drains and better drainage
