Di Resta 17th, Sutil 19th in Spanish GP practice

Barcelona: Force India's Paul di Resta was the 17th fastest while his beleaguered team-mate Adrian Sutil finished a spot behind in the 19th position at the free practice sessions ahead of Sunday's Spanish Grand Prix here on Friday.

The Force India drivers had a terrible time at the Circuit de Catalunya here as both di Resta and Sutil failing to breach the 1m 26s-mark.

Di Resta, who took the wheels from reserve driver Nico HUlkenberg in the second session, was the better among the duo as drove 32 laps during which he clocked a best timing of 1m 26.073s.

Sutil, who is facing a court case following a brawl with Renault owner Eric Lux at a nightclub in Shanghai last month, lost a good lap when he was blocked by Michael Schumacher but he improved to finish with a timing to 1m 27.123s during his 22 laps.

Red Bull's Mark Webber topped the timesheet clocking one minute 22.470s midway through the session.

After the end of the practice sessions, Sutil was far from being satisfied with his effort and said his car is yet find its rhythm after the new updates.

"I ran with all our new aero parts this morning and in the afternoon, but to be honest we haven't managed to find the sweet spot yet. The guys did a great job to get everything on the car, but it's never easy to introduce so many new things during a weekend and to test them properly," he said.

"Getting this new package to work is probably going to be more difficult than we thought and that's why we didn't look that competitive today," Sutil added.

Di Resta opined with his team-mate and said Force India team need to put in a lot of hard work before Sunday's race.

"I missed the morning session so there was a big workload to get through in the afternoon. It was the first time I'd been in the car with the entire new package and we always knew it would be a big change compared to what we were used to," he said.

"The car feels very different and it's clear we have lots of work to do to understand the new parts and get the most from them. By the end of the afternoon we had definitely improved the car quite a bit, but we need to sit down and think about how we should approach tomorrow."
