If you have the habit of snoring while in deep sleep you do not need to worry anymore. This is because the Indira Gandhi Government General Hospital and Post Graduate Institute at Puducherry has launched a ‘snoring laboratory’ to ascertain the reason behind this health condition.
The snoring laboratory set up under the Ear, Nose and Throat department by the Department of Health at this hospital has been recently brought to public use.
The laboratory enables doctors to find out what causes snoring and what are the reasons triggering it, when patients are made to sleep and snore at that place. Patients are made to sleep for eight hours at the laboratory during which 24 different types of tests are conducted, following which doctors suggest accurate treatment for their condition.
Dr Stalin shared that this laboratory has been set up at a cost of Rs 35 lakh and it can help in diagnosing snoring and other disorders during sleep and thereby provide treatment for these conditions. Patients who have suffer from problems like suffocation during sleep can also find out about the nature of their disease.
Snoring reduces oxygen levels which can lead to lung and heart diseases. Hence, people having problems related to snoring can get tested in the laboratory for free and consult an ear, nose and throat doctor, Dr Stalin said. He said that treatment for snoring and its cure can be found immediately.
