BHUBANESWAR: Doctors serving in KBK are going to be ‘rewarded’ for their work. The State Government has announced incentives for regular medical officers posted and discharging their duties in the area. Those working at district headquarters hospitals and sub-divisional hospitals will get an incentive of Rs 4,000 a month over and above their salary in Koraput, Malkangiri, Nabarangpur, Rayagada, Balangir, Sonepur, Kalahandi, Nuapada, Boudh, Kandhamal and Gajapati. However, the doctors, working in the peripheral hospitals and dispensaries, will get a higher incentive of Rs 8,000 a month, a Health Department announcement said. The incentive scheme was cleared by the Finance Department last year and will be implemented soon. Medical officers holding substantive and administrative posts __ Junior Division level-I, Junior Division level-II, Senior Class-I and Junior Class-I and those engaged in treatment and clinical work in the district headquarters and sub-divisional and peripheral hospitals and dispensaries __ will be eligible for the incentive. Although the incentive will be made available for one year, with retrospective effect, ending July 2012, the Government plans to extend it by assessing it every year. The Health Department has fixed certain guidelines basing on which the doctors will become eligible for the incentive.
