BANGALORE: The organisers at Freedom Park have started receiving donations again after a break of two days. After receiving Rs 5 lakhs as donations during the first three days of the protest, volunteers from India Against Corruption had stopped accepting contributions from supporters gathered at Freedom Park. But on Sunday, with a surge in the number of people at Freedom Park, the donation amount reached Rs 4.5 lakhs.“We decided to start accepting donations again to meet the budget,” said Rajashekhar, volunteer, India Against Corruption. He added that IAC discourages contributions above Rs 500 and every donor gets a receipt. The organisers have collected around Rs 1 lakh through the sale of t-shirts.Further, supporters were encouraged to paint the tricolour on their faces. The cost of the paint and the “I am Anna” stickers and badges, allegedly, are given from the donation money.“We have been planning this protest since January 31st. So we have been able to raise funds since January,” said Rajashekhar, an organiser. The organisers opined that the protest will go on at the Freedom Park for the next 15 days in support of Anna.
