GUNTUR: The Guntur district administration had responded in time and sent reports promptly on the unauthorised clinical trials on women at Piduguralla by a Hyderabad-based pharmaceutical company last year but state officials concerned in Hyderabad failed to forward the same to the National Human Rights Commission which sought the report, it is learnt.On Monday, the NHRC issued a notice to the central, state government health and other officials asking them to send the report within six weeks. The NHRC's intervention came when six women, who were subjected to cancer drug trials, were hospitalised.   District collector VN Vishnu and DM&HO Dr M Gopi Naik said the reports had been sent to the higher officials in the state capital within the stipulated time and there was no lapse on their part.The DM&HO told Express that they had sent the reports in the first week of July last year after conducting an inquiry. The reports, sent through the collectorate, were addressed to the principal secretary (medical, health & family welfare), health minister by the  then collector B Ramanjaneyulu.Vishnu, the  present collector, said they had sent the report on the authorised clinical drug trials conducted on 48 healthy women by Hyderabad-based Axis Clinicals Ltd between January 28 and February 18 last year.
