Ekta was questioned for over 2 hours as she failed to declare luxury items of around Rs 90,000.
Mumbai: TV and film producer Ekta Kapoor was on Sunday night detained at the Mumbai International Airport for alleged duty evasion, customs officials said.
Ekta was intercepted by customs personnel when she was passing through the green channel after landing at the airport from Bangkok, they said.
"She was found carrying personal goods for which she did not pay customs duty," said a customs official on the condition of anonymity.
Ekta is likely to be fined Rs 40,000 for not declaring the goods, the official said but refused to give details about the value of goods.
She was being questioned in this connection, the official said.
