Face Blackened, Hair Cut, Garlanded With Slippers: UP Man Humiliates Wife Over 'Affair'

In a disturbing incident that surfaced from Uttar Pradesh’s Pratapgarh district, a shocking case of marital discord was revealed where a husband, on the orders of the Panchayat, subjected his wife to severe humiliation. Initially, her face was smeared with soot, followed by the cutting of her hair and forcing her to wear a garland made of slippers. This harrowing incident in Kudha Ibrahimpur village, under Hathigwan police station area, was recorded on video and soon went viral on social media, sparking widespread outrage.

The Panchayat reportedly imposed this punishment on the wife, accusing her of having an illicit relationship with a youth named Lavkush from the village. The village remained passive spectators to this distressing spectacle, which stirred significant tension in the community.

Upon receiving the information, the police promptly intervened and arrested 15 individuals, including the husband Harilal, involved in this brutal act. Additional Superintendent of Police Sanjay Rai promptly arrived at the village and initiated a thorough investigation into the matter, directing stringent measures against those responsible. Recognising the escalating tension, the police force has been deployed in the area.

The incident revolves around a woman residing within Hathigwan police station jurisdiction, who reportedly had a romantic involvement with a local youth named Lavkush. The married woman is also a mother of three children, with her eldest son being 12 years old. Meanwhile, her husband, Harilal, is employed in a private job in Mumbai. Suspecting his wife’s alleged affair, the husband became apprehensive.

Reportedly, the husband caught his wife red-handed talking to her lover on the phone, prompting a village council led by the Village head and local residents who then punished both the woman and her lover. However, the youth managed to evade the council’s grasp and fled to the police station.

Prior to the police intervention, the woman had already been publicly humiliated by having her face blackened and her hair cut off.
