Fake marksheet racket busted in Indore, two arrested
Two persons were arrested on Thursday for allegedly preparing and selling fake marksheets. Acting on a tip-off, Crime Branch sleuths arrested Aftab Hussain (32) and Mohammad Athar Khan (40) from a flat in Kanadia Road in Indore, Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP) Dilip Soni told reporters.

The duo was engaged in this racket for the last five years and police have seized nearly 400 fake marksheets from their possession, he said.  Police also recovered a laptop, seals of various institutions, printer and a scanner from the flat.

Hussain and Khan have so far sold more than 2,000 marksheets of different boards and universities, Soni said. They used to charge Rs 10,000 to Rs 70,000 per marksheet, he said, adding they operated through middlemen in Uttar Pradesh, Bihar and Gujarat. A case has been registered in this regard and police are conducting further probe.
