KANGANGAD: The fake passport racket which was operating in Hosdurg and adjacent places about one-and-half-years ago is now under the scanner of the Intelligence agencies.More than 100 fake passports have been issued to fake addresses and the Hosdurg police have registered 100 cases in this regard.The racket was operating with the full connivance of the passport verification officials, the then station sub-inspector of Hosdurg, local postman and passport officials at the regional passport office, Kozhikode.According to Intelligence agencies, fake passports in such large numbers could not be issued without the connivance of the officials concerned.About 200 passports had been sent by post to various fake addresses about one-and-half years ago. Except the place name, everything in the address was fabricated.The fake passports were sent to addresses in Ajanur, Kolvayal, Manikkoth, Chithari, Padannakkad and Karuvalam. Those who secured the fake passports are mostly inter-state criminals and extremist elements.The Intelligence agencies are now reportedly finding out the whereabouts of the criminals. The Intelligence agencies had warned two years ago that some extremist organisations have been functioning based on the coastal areas of North Malabar.
