New Delhi: World number one Roger Federer showed some stunning form in his march towards a third Australian Open title.

Federer thrashed Sweden's Jonas Bjorkman in straight sets 6-2, 6-3, 6-2 to enter the third round at the Melbourne Park on Wednesday.

The match that lasted just over an hour-and-half was dominated by the world number one from the very beginning, who hit 38 winners in the course of the match as compared to Bjorkman's 19.

Federer will next play 25th seed Mikhail Youzhny of Russia in the third round.

Andy Roddick has also gone through to the third round of the Australian Open.

The American was on top of the match from the start, beating Marc Gicquel in straight sets.

After taking the first set, Roddick met with some resistance from his French opponent. But after closing out the second set in the tie-breaker, Roddick went on to take the third with ease.

Roddick has reached the semi-finals on two occasions at the season-opening Grand Slam, and is looking good to better that this year.
