HYDERABAD: An early morning telephone call to Begumpet police station about a gun fire at the caller's residence led sleuths to swing into action. However, they later learnt that a group of youngsters out to kill a cat using an air gun had caused the flutter. Police said four persons- Rizwan, Mujeeb, Hazmatullah and Shaw were arrested under sections 336 (Endangering life or personal safety of others), 427 (Mischief causing damage to the amount of `50) of IPC. At around 1 a.m on Saturday the youth had gathered on the terrace of Rizwan's house and consumed alcohol. "While they were drinking, the accused saw a cat wandering on the terrace. The youngsters, in an inebriated condition decided to kill it.," Begumpet sub-inspector K Satish told Express. Rizwan who was carrying an air gun fired at the cat. Since the shooter's aim was improper, the pellets hit the window of a retired assistant SI Mohammed Ali's house, which is on the first floor across Rizwan's residence. "The house-owner Faiz who has a strained relation with Rizwan's family thought the gun was fired deliberately to target his house. We went to Mohammed Ali's house and found a window had holes as a result of pellets striking it," Satish said.
